The parent company of eSkiptrace is McGuinness & Associates, Inc., a Florida Licensed Investigative agency established in 1985. Prior to that, the principal, Brian P. McGuinness, was a Miami-Dade County Public Defender investigator since 1978. He has been locating witnesses for attorneys for 29 years, regularly attends investigative seminars including witness location sessions and has lectured at seminars on topics such as "How to Locate Difficult Witnesses".

As a former president of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services, he chaired the second meeting of the "Roundtable Discussion between Data Providers and Private Investigators" in Washington, DC. He was able to develop an inside track into how data providers obtain, update and verify information and, in some instances, truncate identifiers in order to comply with existing law and the source company's internal policy. He is a firm believer in continuing education and is constantly updating his skills and the skill set of his employees in order to more effectively locate witnesses.
